Katharina Bautista—or Katha, which is also the Filipino word for fiction or art—is 37 years old. She has no money. No job prospects. She's a burden to her brother. And she's frightened. But this was a problem of her own making. She did after all break up with his ER surgeon fiance who was willing to support her.

Meanwhile, Nick Malvar, lead vocalist of the up-and-coming indie band Word Warlords, has been in love with his best friend's older sister since high school and had believed all this time that she's way out of his league. Until recently when he found out about her broken engagement.

Katha has every reason not to give Nick a chance. He's her younger brother's best friend for one—she was practically his older sister! He's younger than her by seven years. He's the quintessential bad boy with the tattoos, the budding drinking problem, and the non-traditional job. Not to mention that he's got a long list of ex lovers. It's a recipe for disaster!
