Keith Smith is fondly remembered by many Australians as the Pied Piper for his long-running ABC Radio and later television programs for children. Keith began writing when he was eight-years-old with comedy sketches for Sunday school concerts. He made his name in Australian radio as a comedy writer, broadcaster and designer of original radio programs. He has written books on a range of subjects, anything that interested him, from books for and about children, to the supernatural, a novel and the comedy and pathos of World War II. AUSTRALIAN BATTLERS REMEMBER: THE GREAT DEPRESSION, a collection of oral histories with ordinary and renowned Australians is his twenty-seventh book.
