All about the Be Well team

Meet our Be Well team, dedicated to workplace wellness and employee empowerment.

At Penguin Random House AU, everyone is encouraged to join teams that contribute to our shared values as an organisation.

Whether staff members are personally passionate about green living or donating to charity, joining a team allows employees to take time out of their work schedules to contribute to the workplace in a way that's meaningful to them.

For those interested in health and wellbeing, the Be Well team is a perfect fit.

With a focus on overall health and wellbeing, the team focuses not only on physical health but also on mental and financial wellbeing. In partnership with Converge International, the Be Well team hosts monthly webinars on a vast range of topics covering everything from sorting out your super to making smart nutritional decisions.

Be Well mission statement

We empower our people to drive their health and wellbeing through engaging activities, resources and connecting with others.

Be Well activities

Penguin Pals

As most of our learning happens on the job, the Be Well team has set up a development opportunity for informal and conversational coffee catch-ups across all PRH Australian and New Zealand offices. It's a great opportunity to get to know people from other departments and offices better, find out about different roles, share ideas and resources and facilitate closer collaboration across PRH ANZ.

Step Challenge

Every spring, the Be Well team facilitates a step challenge to encourage staff members to get their 10,000 steps a day. Employees form teams and compete to see who can get in the most steps. Using fitness trackers, phones, or online calculators to estimate steps, employees can keep track of how much they're moving every day. While the challenge is centred around the benchmark of 10,000 steps, the overall goal is creating awareness around daily movement and exercise.

Webinars

Each month, the Be Well team offers a Converge International webinar to inform staff about different aspects of wellbeing. Past topics have included:

  • Mindfulness
  • Unconscious Bias
  • Sleep and Health
  • Mental Fitness
  • Financial Wellness

And so much more!

Meditation sessions

Recently, the Be Well team launched meditation sessions to align with a monthly theme revolving around mindfulness. In-person sessions were held in the PRH AU Sydney and Melbourne offices, with UBD staff participating in online sessions to cater for all staff members and their schedules.
