William Shatner has cultivated a career spanning over fifty years as an award-winning actor, director, producer, writer, recording artist and horseman. He is one of Hollywood's most recognisable figures and a major philanthropist. In 1966, Shatner originated the role of Captain James T. Kirk in the television series Star Trek. He played the title role in the hit television series T.J. Hooker and won several Emmys and his first Golden Globe for his role on The Practice and Boston Legal. Most recently, he was the star of the CBS sitcom $#*! My Dad Says. Shatner has authored nearly thirty fiction and nonfiction titles, including his autobiography, Up Till Now, which was a New York Times bestseller. He and his wife, Elizabeth, and three married chidlren live in Los Angeles.

{ view all }The Australian Book Industry Awards were held in Sydney on Friday night. It was a great night for Penguin with our books taking the top honors in four book categories including the prestigious Book of the Year. Congratulations also to Peg McColl, Kate McCormack and the rights team who won the International (Rights) Award for the second year running for Paul French's book Midnight in Peking. United Book Distributors were again named Distributor of the Year.
