Heroes of Hamel – Stephen Dando-Collins in conversation with Karen Crofts

2018 marks the 100th anniversary of The Battle of Hamel. Through family history research Stephen Dando-Collins discovered more than the importance of this battle to World War I. He found a family connection and the lasting and personal impact that the war had on those who came home. Stephen discusses how national and family history merge, and his book Heroes of Hamel with Karen Crofts, Director Hunter Writers Centre.

July 4, 2018 will see the 100th anniversary of the World War One Battle of Hamel, fought on the Somme on American Independence Day, an Allied victory, achieved in a staggering 93 minutes, which introduced tactics that dramatically turned the tide against the Germans and changed the way that war is fought.
