READY, AIM, BOWL!

Talented fast bowler Jimmy and his sister, Izzy, have just moved from Perth to Adelaide. Both are huge BBL fans – Perth Scorchers, of course – but while outgoing Izzy has already signed up to the local cricket club, Jimmy isn’t sure he’s ready to be part of a new team. Especially if they’re all Adelaide Strikers fans!

Then one day, Jimmy has a run-in with a kid and his dad from a neighbouring cricket club – they want him to play for their team, not Izzy’s. The dad seems seriously desperate and Jimmy is sure something fishy is going on . . .

Will Jimmy find the courage to join the local club and let his bowling do the talking?

About the Author

Michael Panckridge

Inspired by his passion for sport and desire to get reluctant readers engaged in books, primary and middle school teacher Michael Panckridge put his mind to finding out what kids want to read. Some years later he finds himself the author of over 35 books – his work ranging from the bestselling Legends and Anniversary Legends series, the Toby Jones series with cricket star Brett Lee, The League of Legends series with rugby league great Laurie Daley, through to his latest novels including The Cursed, The Vanishings and The Immortal. These latter novels are intriguing and sinister adventure books with elements of mystery and suspense that keep the reader guessing – not to be read at night! Michael has drawn on his experience in the school environment for his latest book called Be Bully Free. Co-authored with Cathie Thornton, it is a practical hands-on guide for individuals, families and schools.

Praise for Big Bash League 4: Bowling Blitz

“Middle to older primary aged readers of both sexes will readily identify with the characters in each of these novels and would enjoy the vicarious challenges and victories which these well-plotted, highly credible sports fiction books deliver.”

Russ Merrin, Magpies Magazine

“With decent-sized typeface, chapter headings and illustrations, these stories are easy-to-read and fast-paced, and offer good reading especially to reluctant readers, both boys and girls.”

Di Bates, Buzz Words Books

“Big Bash League is a fantastic series for cricket lovers or children who enjoy cricket and love an unsolved mystery. Panckridge has cleverly crossed genres and created really interesting storylines in this non-gender specific series . . . The boys are allowed to express sadness in Bowling Blitz where Jimmy, a talented bowler, experiences self doubt and even becomes teary when the family camera is stolen: a perfectly normal reaction, but one I don’t usually come across in books about boys dealing with challenges.”
