Liam Davison was born in Melbourne in 1957 and died on 17 July 2014. He published several novels, including The Velodrome, Soundings and The White Woman. He was awarded the National Book Council's Banjo Award for Fiction in 1993 and has been shortlisted for several prestigious literary prizes such as The Age Book of the Year Award and the Victorian Premier's Literary Award. Critically acclaimed in Australia, Liam's work has also been well-received in France where it is published by Editions Actes Sud. The Betrayal is Liam's first novel with Penguin Australia.
