SO MANY BOOKS
SO MUCH VARIETY!
CONFUSED?
Selecting the Perfect Puffin is easy with this range of new and classic children's titles for you to choose from, grouped by age.
Each age group has specific needs. The following provides some simple guidelines to help you make your choice...
6-8 Years of Age
We want to build their confidence
At this stage, children should be fed books with large, clear type and a mix of illustrations, and text with a vocabulary that is lively and entertaining.
9-12 Years of Age
We want to captivate and maintain their interest
Books should be accessible and not strictly educational. Find books which have that all-important humour and/or 'street cred'.
13 Years Plus
We want to relate to teenagers.
For teenagers the world can be a challenging mix of confusing emotions. Books can offer solace as they are a reliable source of information on a variety of relevant issues. Not to mention the entertainment value!
Making a Selection
Each child is an individual.
Use our age-grouping as a starting point. Don't discount books outside your child's range, as age does not always reflect reading ability and interest level. Start with these specially selected titles, but remember that you can also search Puffin's complete online catalogue by age range for further books to tempt your child.
