About Us
Welcome to Lantern 2011

Julie Gibbs, Publishing Director
Melbourne artist Nicholas Jones has an abiding passion for books. He carved the beautiful lantern on the front cover of this catalogue from a second hand-copy of the Illustrated History of LMS Locomotives. Nicholas says, 'For me, books – having been a constant force through my life, from childhood to adulthood – are the one thing I hold dear to my heart.'
If I had to think of one word to describe Lantern books it would be passion. All of our authors have a genuine passion for what they do, and this shines through. Whether it is chefs Manu Feildel or Guillaume Brahimi sharing their passion for the art of great cooking, renowned florist Saskia Havekes of Grandiflora sharing her passion for flowers and their transformative power, Paul Bangay sharing his passion for garden design or Christine Manfield sharing her passion for India and its food, their enthusiasm is infectious.
Those who love travel will enjoy Jane Paech's A Family in Paris and Carla Coulson's Chasing a Dream. Those with a fashion obsession will delight in Clare Press's The Dressing Table. Those with an urge to grow their own food will be inspired by Indira Naidoo's The Edible Balcony and Kate Herd's Kitchen Gardens of Australia. Those with an interest in traditional Italian cooking will be able to indulge it in Mangia! Mangia! and My Taste of Sicily. And for those who need some encouragement to take a break, there is the irresistible Tucked In, full of delightful suggestions on how to while away time spent snuggled up in bed.
Above all, passion is shared by the dedicated team here at Lantern and we too hold these books dear to our hearts. I hope these forthcoming Lantern titles bring you, our reader, the same joy they have brought us in producing them.
