| The Haahoos are five enormous pillowy characters, who roam about the garden at a leisurely pace. They are sedate and gentle, but are so big that they can stop the Ninky Nonk in its tracks - no small feat! |

| A happy and optimistic dolly, Upsy Daisy is confident and demonstrative and loves nothing more than dancing throughout the garden. She and Igglepiggle are best friends, almost like a brother and sister. |

| Physical and energetic, Igglepiggle is a well-loved teddy that is always jumping and bouncing. He is curious and adventurous, but also modest. Despite his energy he is often in need of reassurance and comfort, which is provided by his blanket and the narrator - 'Don't Worry Igglepiggle' |

There are three of these tumbly, pepper-pot toys –
Unn, Ooo and Eee. They totter about as a group, rarely individually, and their trousers tend to fall down at unexpected times.
When inside their bush, they can be found playing their piano or banging their drums, or stacking and sorting their building blocks. |

One of the smallest characters in the garden, Makka Pakka likes nothing more than collecting and washing little stones. He also enjoys washing and drying the faces of the other toys.
Makka Pakka sleeps in his little cave, he has a little stone bed which is covered with colourful bedding. |

| A large family of ten peg-dolls that live in a semi-detached house at the foot of a tree. The whereabouts of the eight children, four boys and four girls, are often not known by Mr and Mrs Pontipine, but they don’t worry as the children always return home safely. |

A family of ten who live next door to the Pontipines. They look identical except they wear blue coats and the Pontipines wear red!
Whenever we see the Wottingers they are waving back at the Pontipines. |

The Ninky Nonk is a funny kind of train, made up of a number of differently sized and shaped carriages.
The Tombliboos, the Pontipines, Upsy Daisy and Igglepiggle all have their own carriages, although they often travel in each other's. |

| The Pinky Ponk is a sort-of airship, speckled with many fins and large landing lights. The toys travel in the large gondola which gives them wonderful views of the garden. |
