Dorling Kindersley is an international publishing company specialising
in the creation of high quality, illustrated information books, TV programmes
and online resources for children and adults. Founded in London 1974,
DK now have offices in the UK, USA, Australia, South Africa, India, France,
Germany and Russia.
In May 2000 DK was acquired by Pearson
plc, an international media company with market-leading businesses
in education, strategic commercial development, international television
production and consumer publishing. This acquisition saw DK join the Penguin
Group, as Peter Kindersley stepped down from his executive role at
DK and Anthony Forbes Watson became Chief Executive of both DK and Penguin
UK.
DK Books
DK books cover a wide range of subject areas for all age groups. There
are children's books cover all ages from babies to teenagers, with their
unique combination of educational value and strong visual style appealing
to both parents and children. For adults, there are books on a huge variety
of subjects, including childcare, health, gardening, food and wine, travel,
business, sports, and pet care.
Our creative teams work with high-profile organisations such as the Royal
Horticultural Society, and with well respected authors such as Dr Miriam
Stoppard, to ensure that within many areas of interest ours are the most
authoritative, helpful and engaging books available.
DK TV and Video
A dedicated division of DK was established in 1991 to create television
programmes for international broadcast and video distribution. Since then,
we have produced hundreds of hours of programming that has sold to more
than 75 countries around the world in over 30 languages. Highlights include
the award-winning Eyewitness natural history programme, co-produced with
the BBC, and Amazing Animals, one of the most popular children's series
on The Disney Channel.
