About
Rosemary Hayes was born in the UK, worked in New York and London, then lived in Australia for six years. From her home in the English countryside she now runs a small publishing company and writes books for children. Her first children's novel Race Against Time is set in Australia and was runner-up for the 1987 Kathleen Fidler Award. Other titles in Puffin include Dreamchild, Seal Cry, The Gremlin Buster, The Smell That Got Away, Herbie's Place and The Silver Fox.

{ view all }The Australian Book Industry Awards were held in Sydney on Friday night. It was a great night for Penguin with our books taking the top honors in four book categories including the prestigious Book of the Year. Congratulations also to Peg McColl, Kate McCormack and the rights team who won the International (Rights) Award for the second year running for Paul French's book Midnight in Peking. United Book Distributors were again named Distributor of the Year.
