As an Apollo 11 astronaut, is one of only twelve men to have walked on the moon, and twenty-four who reached lunar distance. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, founded a rocket design company, Starcraft Boosters, Inc., and founded the ShareSpace Foundation, a non-profit organisation whose mission is to forward space flight experiences for all, advance science education, and expand human exploration of space. His Reaching for the Moon (illustrated by Wendell Minor) was a New York Times bestseller and a Book Sense pick. He lives in Los Angeles.

{ view all }The Australian Book Industry Awards were held in Sydney on Friday night. It was a great night for Penguin with our books taking the top honors in four book categories including the prestigious Book of the Year. Congratulations also to Peg McColl, Kate McCormack and the rights team who won the International (Rights) Award for the second year running for Paul French's book Midnight in Peking. United Book Distributors were again named Distributor of the Year.
